Chain saw carving

Wasn't sure on post location so as its woodworking I'll put my query here.

Any of U guys/gals tried chainsaw carving? My daughter got me a piece of garden art for my birthday, a mushroom, that was done with a chainsaw. Doesn't look too complex. I have a nice little 14" bar Echo saw that might be the right tool for giving this a go. Anyone else ever try it?

never tried it always a bit cautious of chains saws ,can be deadly

I'm with Cobalt on that one, in a amateur hand serious damage could be inflicted. Saying tha I have seen some wonderful examples of the art.

There are a couple of chain saw carving groups out there. Here's a link to a fellow that lives in South Bend, where I am. His work is remarkable. Mostly very large scale, some 20' tall, and for chainsaw work, nicely formed. I haven't had a chance to look him up, but he might offer pointers. There's a contact page at his site.
