Just ordered some tupelo. It generally is able to take finer details, holds paint better, and does not fuzz up during power carving like Basswood. It is a bet stronger wood than also.  I have not  order any for a number of years because I have had a large supply of basswood. I ordered it from  Hummul. I have ordered tools from them in the passed but this is the first time ordering wood. I will let you know the quality they are selling.
